What did you think about last night’s Glee? Did “Ballad” sing to you?I was surprised to see Gleeks on Twitter say that they weren’t all too impressed with the episode. My response: “Not every episode can be ‘Wheels’. Every once in a while you get an ‘Acafellas’.” And this episode was way better than ‘Acafellas’!
“Ballad” had some great musical moments, with “I’ll Stand By You” and “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” as my top choices (it’s so nice to see Matthew Morrison not rap). “Having My Baby” was so bad and awkward it was good in one of those schadenfreude kind of ways.
I’m really glad to see Quinn’s family. It tells us a lot more about who she is and why she was such a bitch earlier in the season. If I had bigoted, boozing, Glenn Beck watching parents I’d probably also be a sour, snooty hypocrite.
I would just like to offer Ryan Murphy a quick suggestion: in the upcoming Madonna episode, bring back Quinn’s parents and have them try to convince Quinn to get an abortion (or give it up for adoption, but I think the abortion would reinforce what hypocrites those kind of people tend to be—you know the kind I’m talking about ::cough::Glenn Beck people::cough::cough::). Quinn should then sing “Papa Don’t Preach”! Thoughts? Too obvious?
So tell us, what did you think of “Ballad”? Is it just me, or is Rachel really working her way around the glee club? What a ho! What do you think of Kurt’s slightly awkward infatuation with Finn? Did you love when Mercedes told Puck to simma down? Let us know your thoughts!

ReplyDeleteAgreed, with one problem "earlier in the season" insinuates that she's stopped being a bitch. While I'm proud of/amazed by her not attacking Finn for outing the situation to her parents, joining Glee has definitely NOT suddenly made her a sweetie pie (see her endlessly insulting Finn despite his best efforts).
I'm glad Puck finally told the truth...I just wish it had been to the whole club, and not just Mercedes. I did like how she handled it, though. (Speaking of Mercedes, she needs more solos.)
I wish "I'll Stand By You" could have been longer, but then, I'm heavily in love with that song. "Don't Stand So Close To Me" was awesome, made even more so by Emma's reaction.
Overall, good episode, in my opinion. Also, just bought the soundtrack yesterday, and it's making me giddy with happiness :D
