Bio: Shelby Corcoran was first introduced in the second half of Season One as the strict coach of Vocal Adrenaline. But soon, she turns out to be Rachel's mother wanting to meet her daughter for the first time in her life. It was 16 years ago, that she served as a surrogate mother (for Rachel's dads), because she needed money to advance her career in New York. But she failed and eventually came back to Ohio to coach Vocal Adrenaline. In order to get Rachel's attention now, she uses Jesse to establish a relationship with her and deliver a taped message from mother to daughter, explaining why she left her when she was born. In the end, they meet, but Shelby tells Rachel that she has missed out on her entire childhood and does not think that reuniting would be a good idea, so they eventually go their own way. Shelby later has a short affair with Will Schuester and finally quits Vocal Adrenaline to start a new life with Quinn's daughter Beth, whom she adopts in the episode Journey.

She finally accepts to join Vocal Adrenaline and does not appear until later in the season. She is very short and often teased for her height. Nevertheless, her voice is amazing, which leads to her 600 Twitter followers and the ranking among the best ten Glee clubs at Nationals in New York.

Bio: Shannon Beiste is the new football coach at McKinley High, after Ken Tenaka had a nervous breakdown because of the wedding disaster with Emma. At first, she is getting bullied by Sue and Schue, but Schue is quickly back on her side and even gives her her first kiss. She portrayed Santa Clause in A Very Glee Christmas, so Brittany wouldn't stop believing in him, and tried to help her football players winning the Super Bowl by making them join New Directions to learn how to act as a team. Shannon was being bullied in her childhood, because she was different from the other girls, and still is a sensitive woman, today, hiding behind a strong body and voice. She likes going to a cowboy bar called Rosalita's Roadhouse 'for stress relief', where she takes Schue in Blame It On The Alcohol and they sing and dance and get drunk.

Bio: Lauren Zizes is the new addition to New Directions since the episode Special Education, when Puck asks her to join after she had saved him from the port-a-potty the football team had locked him in. Since then, they can be seen as an item, but it may be discussed if they're actually in a relationship. In her childhood, Lauren won several pageants by doing baby pull-ups, almost leading to her being Little Miss Ohio. In high school, she is a successful member of the wrestling team and leader of the A/V Club. She is a passionate Twilight fan, which leads to several frightening events in the episode Theatricality, and loves chocolate and candy.

Bio: Puck is the resident 'badass' of Mckinley High. Well known for sleeping with a mom or two, bullying, and flirting with the girls at school (but only the pretty ones). He has an on/off relationship with feisty cheerleader Santana Lopez and also with her best friend, Brittany Peirce. But there is one girl whom he has always wanted to be with, and that is his best friend Finn's girlfriend, Quinn Fabray. Eventually, he does end up sleeping with her, and after what they both thought would be a quiet one night stand, Puck's world is shaken when Quinn reveals she is pregnant with HIS BABY!! Puck constantly tries to prove himself to Quinn, but that doesn't mean he will ever stop being his usual 'Puckzilla' self. He briefly dated Rachel Berry and Mercedes Jones. After the birth of their daughter, Quinn and Puck seemed to go their own separate ways. It was speculated that Puck drove his mom's car into a shop window and stole an ATM machine out of depression, which resulted in him going to Juvie. She has an on/off relationship with Puck but still gets jealous when ever he is seen dating other girls. Her crush on Finn started after Sue Sylvester said the Cheerios should date younger men. She convinces Finn to lose his virginity to her and has had her eye on him ever since. There is no doubt that her favorite past time is to make fun of people, especially Kurt, and of course Rachel, whom she commonly refers to as a 'dwarf.' Alas, it doesn't sit well with the other Jocks and especially not Quinn. When Finn first finds out about Quinn's pregnancy, he is led to believe he is the father. Rachel comes to be a really big love interest for Finn.

He has a heart of gold and a passion for life.  His friends love and respect him because of his cheery nature and sweet personality.  But, he is very sensitive to the fact that he is different than most of his clubmates.  He has a huge crush on his girl Tina because he thinks she understands what it is like to be different (her stutter).  But when he finds out she is lying, he realizes that she isn't the kind of person he thought she was.

Mercedes is a diva-in-training with a fabulous wardrobe and an even more fabulous attitude.  She enjoys drama, gossip, and singing.  She appears strong-willed and confident, often standing up for herself when she doesn't feel like she is in the spotlight.

Secretly, Mercedes has two weaknesses.  First, she loves her friends.  She is willing to sing a song for a friend that is in trouble, even if that friend doesn't really get along with her outside of glee club.  She is often found talking on the phone to her BFFs -- Artie, Kurt and Tina -- giving them loving advice (and often letting them see the error of their unfashionable ways).

Second, she wants to be loved.  After a mistaken relationship with Kurt, she got upset and busted the windows of his car.  I think she craves someone else to think she is as fabulous as she knows she is, and will do anything to get that person.  But, she is also misguided enough to think that someone (Kurt), who just wants to be great friends, might actually date her.

Character Profile: Kurt Hummel

Family:  Father, former football player and current auto garage owner; Mother died when he was six.  No siblings.


Kurt is fashionable and outspoken, with a love of makeovers, the Broadway show Wicked, and Beyonce's "Single Ladies."  He is very particular about his skin care, not ruining his Marc Jacobs jacket, and making sure that everyone is as "lady fabulous" as he.


His singing of the song "Mr. Cellophane" for his New Directions  audition is indicative of the fact that normally he feels transparent, as if people see right through him without acknowledging that he is even visible.  He has been a victim of hazing -- being shoved in the dumpster, having his lawn furniture nailed to his roof, and having pee balloons as well as random slushies thrown at him.


His sexuality is a point of conversation for his glee club friends.  He first came out to his gal pal Mercedes, after she professed her love for him.  He then came out to his dad after his success in the big game, although Mr. Hummel already knew he was gay. Even though Kurt was afraid to confirm to his peers that their perception of his sexuality is true, he is still very secure in who he is, not being afraid to start fashion trends (such as one including cornrows and many varieties of exotic bird feathers), slap his own butt in the presence of football players, and slushie-ing himself to "take one for the team." 


We love Kurt because while he may feel invisible, he is very true to himself.  And also because he once wore a corset to second period.
