Of the Glee episodes so far, I think “Hairogaphy” had the strongest moral theme. And it never felt preachy. As Rachel describes, and Sue reaffirms, the razzle-dazzle of hair is a mask. A distraction to what’s really there. Last night’s Glee was all about showing your truth. There were moments of good: Rachel, despite feeling embarrassed, being told that she’s perfect the way she is. Will, after making the kids do that atrocious mash-up of “Crazy In Love” and “Hair”, realizing that his kids are so good, they need nothing but their voices. And Tina, busting out a gorgeous renditions of Cyndi Lauper’s classic, “True Colors”.
There was also the sad: Finn and Rachel isn’t going to happen, at least not any time soon. He may have moments of weakness, but he really loves Quinn. Puck is not the redeemable hero we thought he was. Kurt may be adorable, but he’s also desperate, conniving and mean. And Sue Sylvester, admirable though she may be to her sister, is just a bit too evil to be considered good.
This was, in fact, an episode about true colors. I must admit, I had grown to expect more from Sue (and Puck). Oh, Ryan Murphy! You trickster. I hope the choir directors from the other schools (one of which was played brilliantly by Eve) stick to their morals and decide not to screw over Will (especially after that beautiful performance of “Imagine” between the two glee clubs!). We have just two episodes left before we find out what happens at Sectionals.
What did you think of last night’s episode? Did you think Sue would end up leaking the set list? Will Puck ever change his ways? We know Rachel is capable of taking the high road. Will Kurt find himself eating his words (and his betrayal)?
Let us know your thoughts!
