Top 5 Reasons to Love Brittany (With Video)

Hello faithful Gleeks. A few days ago, I covered the top five reasons to love Puck. Now, it's time to honor my favorite Cheerio, Brittany. Why do I love her? Well, to start, she's got less mama-drama than Quinn and she's not as snotty as Santana. And let's face it, once they actually let her speak, Glee's writers gave Brittany some of the *best* one-liners on the show. She might be dumber than a box of hair, but Brittany (played by Heather Morris) has a gift for deadpan delivery. Of course, just like Puck, one of the reasons I love Brittany has to do with the person playing her. Did you know Morris was once a backup dancer for Beyonce or that she was cut from the last season of So You Think You Can Dance? Read on...

1. Brit helped Kurt perfect his Single Ladies dance in what would prove to be a pivotal episode for him. This was our first glimpse of Brittany minus the Cheerios uniform. The popular cheerleader lending a hand to the nerdy fashionista? That was the first sign that there is more to Brittany than meets the eye. When that episode aired, I had no idea Heather Morris had actually performed with Beyonce as a backup dancer. The "Single Ladies" routine by the football team is one of my all-time favorite Glee moments, and I like to think they nailed it because of Brittany's expert tutelage.

2. Her friendship with Becky, a shy girl with Down Syndrome, showed us a softer side of the ditsy blonde. Like Puck, Brittany has a sweet side we rarely see. I hope Morris is given more lines and we get to see Brittany develop as a character. I also want to see her dance a lot more. The girl has some serious moves, Glee producers! Let her shake it a bit, yes?

3. Those one-liners! Ack! I could do a top five list just for Brittany's gems. One of her fansites called Brittany "Glee's secret weapon" and I agree. Brit's well-aimed comedic darts are always right on the mark. My favorite Brittany line was her assertion that a ballad was a "male duck." Come on. The straight-faced, matter-of-fact delivery of that line solidified Heather Morris as a comedic genius and Brittany as one of my favorite Glee characters.

4. People with weak constitutions, look away. Are they gone? Good. The Santana/Brittany exchange during the group phone call nearly made my brain fall out of my head: Santana: "Sex is NOT dating." Brittany: "Yeah, if it was, Santana and I would be dating." ..............(shocked silence)..................Whoa! What a total tongue-in-cheek moment. I don't think the writers will ever elaborate on that statement, but let's all be honest here. We wouldn't mind if they did. At least, I wouldn't mind if they did. Go Brittany. That naughty little conversation was the stuff of legend. OK. Uptight folks, you can come back now.

5. Heather Morris is a multitalented singer and dancer, but she's also very sweet. I found quite a few YouTube videos of her working on charity projects and teaching dance classes with kids. This video was my favorite of the bunch. In January, Brittany played a part in granting a wish for a 12 year-old girl named Briana in Buffalo, NY. Briana has cystic fibrosis, a painful and eventually fatal lung disease. She asked the Make-a-Wish Foundation to build her a dance studio in her basement. As part of the wish, Brittany treated Briana and her cousins and friends to three days of dance workshops. This video shows Heather teaching them, what else....the Single Ladies dance. See? There's much more to the dippy blonde than meets the eye.
