Predictions For April's Return of Glee

(This is by our new writer, Amy).  This is the article she included in her interview packet:

It's been a long winter without Glee, hasn't it? As we all suffer through the remaining 12 weeks (ouch) until its return, why not speculate on what's to come? I have a few guesses. First, I have to yank off my big-girl, mature-writer hat for just a moment and squeal in delight at the thought of Idina Menzel making an appearance as the director of Vocal Adrenaline. For a theater geek, Idina is the ultimate. I know she will trot out some of her Maureen-esque bravado and brazen confidence. I can only hope I don't fall off the couch and break something when she sings a number.

When Lea Michelle first appeared onscreen, I was struck by her obvious resemblance to Menzel. Rachel's "turkey baster" conception leaves the door wide open for her to discover that the ruthless, wildly talented arch-rival show choir director is her birth mother. With all her bumbling attempts at romance, poor hapless Rachel needs a mother. At the very least, she needs fashion advice.  So my first prediction is that Rachel will find her mother and be astounded to discover that her thirst for fame is hereditary.

My second prediction is that, alas, Will and Emma will not remain a couple. They might have had a shot if Will wasn't on the rebound and recovering from Teri's padded-pregnancy lie extravaganza. They are an adorable couple, though, aren't they? They're almost painfully cute, like those posters of the puppies and floppy-eared rabbits sleeping beside each other in a bed of daisies. They're too cute to last. Emma showed off a surprisingly steely resolve in the sectionals episode. Even though she's been heaving that heavy torch for Will around all this time, I don't think she'll settle for being a rebounder. I think she will gently, and adorably of course, tell Will that if he really wants her, he'll wait for her. And then all of us who leaped off the couch and cheered when Will ran down the hall after her will sneak into our bedrooms and scream into our pillows during the commercial break.

My last prediction is for Kurt. Sigh. I love Kurt. Shamelessly and wholeheartedly. The character of Kurt broke down so many walls this season. As a strident supporter of the LGBT community, I was overcome with emotion when Kurt's father accepted him. I have to believe that Chris Colfer's performance led many frightened teens out of the closet that night. If Glee really wants to continue to support one of its target audiences, then the writers will hopefully give Kurt a legitimate and honest love interest in the upcoming episodes, not just an unrequited crush on Finn. His bravery up to this point have earned him at least a little nookie. I predict he will find someone soon, and that he will handle the resulting reaction from his peers with the same finesse and gut-wrenching sweetness that he's handled everything up to this point.

So there you have it.  I'll be there on that Tuesday in April with all of you, eagerly awaiting what's in store. Oh, and hiding from Sue Sylvester.

  4. Kristin Chenoweth is returnig to the show, too. Actually, when I read 'Prediction's for April's return' I thought the note would be about her. She tweeted just yesterday that she was working on the show. I love her. :)

  5. Well the casting call that includes a boyfriend for Kurt is for season 2, so I don't think he'll be getting much play in the back 9. I'm excited though :) And as for Will&Emma... as much as I hate to admit it... you're probably right. Not only was I jumping up and down I was screaming, dancing, leaping, running up and down the halls... and Glee is on Tuesdays?? When was this announced??

  6. I'm excited for the back 9. I'm excited to see what will happen with Puck/Rachel, i adore them, and I think now they can explore all of the characters more. I'm hoping their episode will show more sides of Puck, and some real development in his relationship/friendship with Rachel.

I actually DON'T want Idina's character to end up being Rachel's mother, it would just seem too obvious to me. Quite cliche really.

  8. like luisee, I thought "April" in the title meant April Rhodes. I also prefer a Rachel-Puck pairing. Finn iis a cutie, but he's still languishing from a lack of identity. Beside Puck and Kurt, and even Artie, he comes out as having no personality.

  10. I predict that Will and Emma will want to progress their relationship, but Teri is gonna show up actually being preggo—for real this time! (There are pregnancies which go unknown all the way up to delivery and can’t you see Terri trying to explain it to Will? Oh, the drama!) This will tear at Will’s heart who really wants to be with Emma, but we know how loyal he’ll be to his current wife and child.
