Let's Talk Golden Globes

The Golden Globes are THIS Sunday and if you are like me you are dying to see who takes home the big prizes. I am actually most excited to see the Gleeks out in force to support each other and their show. What will they wear? Will Matthew Morrison actually show up to an event? Who will win? Here's what I think...tell me what you predict!

Glee - Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical
The Hollywood Foreign Press loves newbies and so I personally think that Glee has a great shot at winning in this category. They are however up against some fierce competition in "30 Rock", "Entourage", "Modern Family", and "The Office". I'd like to see "30 Rock" knocked down from their 3 year winning streak and give the underdogs a shot.

Who do you think will take home the prize?

Lea Michele - Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical

Lea is a fresh face nominated for her first ever Golden Globe. She does however have some major competition consisting of a few TV veterans and plenty of insane talent. Her competitors are Toni Collette ("United States of Tara"), Courtney Cox ("Cougar Town"), Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie"), and Tina Fey ("30 Rock"). I really don't know who is going to win this one but I sure hope Lea brings it home.

How about you...do you think Lea has a shot?

Matthew Morrison - Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical

Gosh, I love him. We all know that. I also think he is an incredibly talented performer but I just don't think he's going to win this one. (Sorry, Matt. You know, in case he reads this.) It breaks my heart but he is up against some comedic giants. Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock"), Steve Carell ("The Office"), David Duchovny ("Californication"), and Thomas Jane ("Hung") will pose a tough crew to beat for my Matty Fresh.

Do you think he has what it takes to take home the Globe?

Jane Lynch - Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television

The genius that is Sue Sylvester will win for sure. I have no doubt about that. If I'm wrong, I'll...I don't know...we'll have to think of something. She has some tough competition but this woman has been a force of nature this year and will no doubt smoke fellow nominees; Jane Adams ("Hung"), Rose Byrne ("Damages"), Janet McTeer ("Into the Storm"), Chloe Sevigny ("Big Love").

What do you think?

Don't forget to tune in for the Golden Globes this Sunday, January 17th on NBC.

Also, I am hard at work transcribing my nearly hour-long interview with Stephen Tobolowsky (Sandy Ryerson). I am almost done and should have it up on the site in a few days.

Thank you for your patience!

  1. Your analysis and predictions line up with mine; you're a genius! (why should Duchovny be nominated for playing a sex addict, i.e., himself?)
