Glee Cast to be Replaced in 2012

Class of 2012
How are the wonderful GCO readers doing? I was having a decent day until I found out that the Glee cast we all know and love will be getting REPLACED in 2012. Honestly, that ruined my day.

Here's what's going on...

The creative genius behind Glee, Ryan Murphy, has been getting bombarded with questions of what's going to happen to the current Glee Club at William McKinley High and here's what he had to say:
"Every year we’re going to populate a new group. There's nothing more depressing than a high schooler with a bald spot. I think you have to be true to the fact that here is a group of people who come and go in these teachers' lives – they graduate and they're gone. When some of them finish their run at high school it will be very teary episodes. For me it will be particularly tough but a new crop (of actors) will come in. I was concerned about that (whether to have characters graduate and leave the show) because those kids caught on so quickly – but I think one of the things I'm very happy we’ve been able to do this years is we’ve brought in new characters. I think if you can keep regenerating – and I didn’t think we could – I didn’t know if people would want those characters (like Sam) but they do."

He's basically saying that with the exception of Chord Overstreet's character, Sam, the rest of the Glee club will be graduating sometime in 2012. I'm assuming this will be in either season 3 or if we're lucky, season 4.

I don't know about you but I am going to to be devastated. No matter how talented the new group of kids will be, the show will not be the same. This is horrible news in my opinion.

What do you guys think? Are you happy with the news? Are you happy with the Glee Club graduating or no?

Just like a wise Rachel Berry once said...
"Being apart of something special, makes you special."

You're not too special if you're just a replacement.

  2. I knew it had to be adressed at some point but I was hoping it wouldnt be soon. I was happy not knowing when the "end was near" now it just seems like my gleeful world just got a little dimmer. :(
It just wont be the same without Kurt, Rachel, Finn, and even Mike Chang.

  3. Omgosh no!!!! So disappointed!! =( Didn't Ryan say on Oprah that they weren't going to graduate! I'm soooo sad! I love Santana/Naya!

  4. Just something to keep in mind, Saved by the Bell lasted longer than four years did it not?

Either way, Who knows what will become of glee. Its going well so far.

  5. Actually nevermind that was a bad example.
    It was five. FAIL.

  6. I cried during Furt and Journey. im going to need a bucket for the tears when they graduate

  7. I HATE THIS!! IM ACTUALLY TEARING UP ON HOW MAD I AM! Ryan said if it was up to him they would NEVER graduate! And it just wont be the same without the original cast )':

  8. Well, the Rugrats kids were babies for how many years?? I hope this never happens, and if it does, then they have to at least show what's happening with the original Glee kids.

  9. I am devastated. This is a tv show every seson doesn't have to be a whole year of high school. It could be just a semester. That is the point of tv is you can have fun with it and there are no rules. I think they will see a huge drop of fans once this happens. It won't be the same without the annoying Rachel, the loveable Kurt, and the hilarious Mercedes.

  10. i was looking on the official website and they have a new contest up!

it's the stocking stuffed with glee contest:
    http://www.gleethemusic.com/us/stockingstuffedcontest

i'm about to submit my video, but i'm curious about what everyone else is doing!

  11. I think that this is a horriable idea, the reason that this show works is its amazing cast! I dont think that i would even bother to watch after my favorite carecters left. Just saying, lightening never strikes twice, the chance of them finding people as perfect for these rolls twice are slim to none!

    ReplyDelete
  12. It would have to be a gradual shift. If you take out a whole cast it won't work. I'm skeptical.

  13. you know what sucks? it sucks when we keep on watching their faces on the club over and over again while our age keeps flowing like them.. I'm glad to hear this.. so, is there any audition? im planning to be racheal berry.. Im a dude, so raphael could do it :)

  14. I am truly devestated by this news, the current cast are so good and it would not be the same with any of them, particualy Rachel & Finn.

Also i dont understand if they want to replace the current cast, why are they keeping the character Sam ? Isn't he the same age as all of them & in the same year ? And hes deffinitetly got to be older than the character Kurt.

This is my thoughts on how it should happen, after season 4 they just graduate and end the show on a high... it would be much better than trying to repace the cast with new people who have the same talent in both singing & acting, also they would be struggling to make story lines up, i love the series but the 2nd series hasn't been the best, still good but not great like the 1st series.

And if they do get a new cast, i dont think they should all go at wants, i thought they were all in different grades anyway..

this is what i thought how the grades are

Puck, Finn, Sam, Quinn, Santana and Brittney were all in grade 11 from season 2

Mercadies, Artie, Tina, Rachel, Mike and Kurt were in grade 10 from season 2

but anyway i think they should just do 2 terms of school one year and finish the same grade for the next 2 terms of schooling the following year & then the orriginal cast will stay longer & then finish by the year 2014 or something..

anyway that's enough from me, what do you all think about my opinion & the current glee casts future on the show ? from R.W Austrailia

  15. Why not trusting in the concept and the writers. Until now I don't see any reason for not trusting them.
And Just because something is good doesn't mean it can't become even better.
    ( I just hope they'll keep Jayma!!!!!!!!!!! O.O)

  16. I'm crying right now :'(

  17. I think if they do it right it can be awesome. It will definitely not be the same, but I actually had a thought about it. I think it would be cool if they start auditioning people for 2012 now and move them in while existing characters are still there. I think they can make it like a legacy, the current glee members could mentor the new ones and make it like a competition. (which of course rachel will be dying to win ) I don't know, but I think it will be easier to accept new characters if they have some connection to those who will be graduating.

  18. one tree hill has been going on for what 10 seasons why cant they do the same sort of thing with the older kids from glee..and all of the kids in the glee club now have all had an impact on mr.schue so he will just acceept that they are leaving and liek never talk to them again

  19. It's High School, 4 years and out. Maybe make 2 seasons covering 1 year, but all the main characters are seniors. Dianna Agron (Quinn) is 25, Lea Michele Sarfati (Rachel) is 24.5 and Cory Allan Monteith (Finn) is 28.5yrs old. Heather Elizabeth Morris (Brittany) is 24 and Mark Wayne Salling (Puck) is 28.5yrs old. These guys/gals sure look young for their age but get real it's real hard to make a 30+ actor to look 17. Christopher Paul Colfer (Kirk) is the youngest at 20.5 and Matthew J. Morrison (Will) is 32 and he surely doesn't look 17 and he shouldn't since he is a teacher but what will Puck look like at 30, probably a teacher. So lets face it father time takes it toll. New faces with younger ages is needed to keep the show current. Maybe this time they can get some real talent that are 17 or 18. Then they can stay longer. I will miss the great talent that the show has currently and it will take some real searching to find compliments to the current characters but hopefully they are out there. They need to start integrating the new players with the old now and have them be sophomores or freshmen, making the "Glee" club larger. They can also make after graduation careers that intermix with the high school to keep a few of the main characters near. How about a musical theater nearby that some of them start their careers at and the show has a subplot following them there.

  20. that sucks i think they should have the same characters bevause then it wouldnt be the same anymore and if they do change them i hope its in season 4 cuz i really like this showw im a GLEEK!!!!!!:)

    ReplyDelete
  21. no how could u do this! i love chris colfer and once he goes, so will i. i wouldn't even watch glee if he wasnt there

    ReplyDelete
  22. that was my comment just above(the one about chris). maybe they could consider making the show about the chaacters who become sucessful singers. can i just say where is glee the movie??? -donnacolfer

    ReplyDelete
  23. NO!! The shows going to DIE if all of the current people leave. Personally, I wouldn't watch glee if Chris Colfer wasn't on, and I'll probably stop watching once they switch it out. They should at least continue following the lives of the original kids.

    ReplyDelete
  24. i honestly dont think i will watch glee if the original cast isn't in it..and thats a sham..glee changed by life in a good way but i think the only reason it did is because of the actors in it, it just wont be the same without them.

    ReplyDelete
  25. "Being a part of something special, makes you special". Being a part of something special shouldn't be constricted to just one group of people. While I adore the current cast, and I agree the show will be different with a defferent class, I think it will be more realistic having the current class graduate. A new cast wouldn't be a 'replacement' cast. They would be a new class, able to be a part of something special. Life moves forward and changes. So should this show :) It won't be any worse, only better, in my opinion!

    1. So true I completely agree with you. The show will still be AWEsome. :-D

  26. yeaaah NO if brittany and santana leave im leaving. i love brittanys one liners and santana being so bitchy. the show wont be the same w/o rachael, finn, kurt, puck, santana, brittany, mercedes, artie, mike, and tina. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?! you cant just replace a cast that we've committed to and learned to love for 2 years. finn has a baby face he can last a few more years. they also dont have to do one year equals a school year...this news has just ruined my...year

    ReplyDelete
  27. The only thing that really makes me sad is that Kurt is leaving. He's literally the only reason i got into this show. If he wasn't there, i wouldn't be a "Gleek" like i am now. :'(. Not saying that i don't love the whole cast, but if Kurt is gone, then im definetly not watching the show anymore. i <3 him:)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think that they should stop the show after all of the cast that we know and love graduates. This would end everything on a good note.( i will miss kurt sooooo much thoe!!! he is the best)

    ReplyDelete
  29. In the show--Finale, Rachel and Kurt talked about moving to N.Y. to go to school. And Kurt said Blaine is going too. I'm hoping for a spinoff. Just Rachel, Finn, Kurt, and Blaine would rock my world. Kind of like "Friends." The others could make guest appearances. How about it, Ryan?

Also, I agree. The show might take on a whole new group of fans, but will probably lose many fans of this current show. For me Kurt and Blaine make the show. When they're gone, I'm watching reruns the rest of my life. I don't think Ryan could ever recapture the special story line he created around those two.

  30. Ok What the heck is this? Glee is my all time absolute FAVORITE show expecially when I can watch Finn <3.., anyways if your going to get rid of the cast then do it in season 4 so people (like me) can wait until they're 16 next year to audition and preform with the current Glee cast. That would make one of my dreams come true and I would honestly die. So if your planing to destroy the only happieness in some peoples lives then let them graduate in season 3, but if your smart do it in SEASON 4! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am really sad that the current cast is going to be graduating next year, or at least that is one rumor. My favorite characters of all time are Brittany and Santana, they are best friends in real life, and on the show. I really only watch episodes to see them :) It is definitely going to be a change that us Gleeks will have to get used to. Either some of us will accept it, and some of us might not. This cast will always have that special feeling of knowing they were the original cast of Glee.

    ReplyDelete
  32. im gonna miss rachel and finns relationship the most but you never kno the new cast might be good too

    ReplyDelete
  33. god this sucks!! I get the cast have to graduate high school but why can't the show keep following their lifes- maybe they could go to uni then set up a new kind of club. Also kurt/ chris colfer cant go!! I love him! Come on ryan you cant get rid of klaine!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Am I the only one who thinks this is a good idea? It'll be a refreshing, more realistic change, and a good opportunity for more equally talented people to shine. I think the actors would get too old to play high school characters after a while.

  35. well that sucks. ryan said that the actors are straight fired. so they are not going to be following them at all after they graduate. That's going to be awkward, just like throwing them out without another word. yeah i dont think i can watch some reality show winner who cant act being put into this show just like that. sorry glee, you've lost me

    ReplyDelete
  36. NOOOOO I DON"T WANT THEM TO GO I LOVE THEM THE WAY THEY ARE THE SHOW IS GREAT THE WAY IT IS :( DON"T GET RID OF ANY OF THEM

  38. I CANT BELIVE THERE LEAVING I DONT THINK I WILL STOP WATCHING THE SHOW!! THE CAST SHOULD NOT CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. I think the cast should graduate an start a new cast so glee can keep on making more seasons because pretty soon the real glee cast will not look like teens ... mayb they can become teachers at the school or volunteers so that they stayy in the picture Idk but I think they should graduate and get new ppl even bring in the new ppl the year of graduation as freshmans starting glee

    ReplyDelete
  40. Of course they should graduate cuz that's what keeps it real. They should eaither graduate and bring new ppl or graduate an show there lifes in college

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hopefully they'll keep Brittany...and the rest of the Unholy Trinity.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well Degrassi has had generations go through high school since '79...so obviously it could work. Although it will totally suck to lose all the old characters. Of course they could still make guest appearances every now and then, which would be cool. And I don't think the new cast should replace the old cast per se. They'd just be brand new characters altogether. Because let's face it..no one can replace Santana, Finn, Rachel, or any of the other cast members!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don’t like change. I can relate to Rachel and I don’t want her to go! When she leaves I’m gonna stop watching the show.

  44. I think that they should go onto college and have a Glee club there.

  46. i think they should not be replaced becuase its not going to be the same without them almost every note says that its a bad idea to get a new cast

  47. Im not going to watch Glee after they leave. They are the main highlight why Glee is the best show on Television. this T.V show is going to go down the toilet. so i think they should graduate, then the show take place at college, they all get accepted to the same college except some. and take on from there. if that doesnt happen, then good luck on finding a new #1 Glee fan, because you just lost her.

  49. anonymous: I thought it was already decided that Kurt, Finn and Rachel were staying. I just heard that Mercedes was leaving, though. So which is it? Are all of them really leaving or just some of them? If they all leave, the show won't be worth watching.

  51. It just dawned on me after reading everyones posts. Everyone in Glee is in the same or near to the same grade level? That seems unreal in itself - that everyone from the same class would be in the same club rather than be from varied class levels. At any rate I like the idea of splitting the year up in seasons rather than play it out one year a season. I don't like that the current cast is being cast out and replaced. Granted they are older than their characters, but that is television. No one plays their age on TV and/or film. I like the cast how it is and I honestly have no desire to watch a new cast and what will amount to an entirely different show. The cast we have now is talented beyond measure and should remain during the duration of the series, that is my opinion and will remain my opinion. Don't get me wrong though, I think Ryan Murphy is a genius in his creative process and in his ability to find these very talented performers and integrate them into the stories and characters he created. The performers, actors, and musicians have melded so wonderfully into their characters and have done and continue to do a superb job on all levels of their performances - the acting, music and dancing. Together they have made magic in this series. But I disagree entirely with Ryan's belief that they need to be replaced. As many have stated here, many television series do not portray a year's time in 4-5 months, unlike Glee. If Ryan had tried that, then this casts time would not be up yet. It was his choice to do that and not only do I feel he is wrong in his thought process but I feel it will be the untimely demise of Glee. Too many will feel let down and lost if he follows through with this decision. Viewership will inevitably be lost and the show will be cancelled if that happens. I like the idea of them graduating but let that be the end of the series when it happens. That is how it should be. Together the cast and crew have created this show and together they should end it on a high. Replacing 1/2 of the team is just the wrong way to go about it.

  52. Why dont you make an episode that the 10graders in glee move to 11th
And the 11graders in glee get left back and they can do glee for 2 more
Seasons or more if you want them to keep getting left back and can I join
    Glee please
